Hip-hop transformation is a pioneering service developed to help adolescents and young adults for whom traditional psychotherapy has not been effective.
Many solely perceive hip-hop music from its portrayal on TV and in the media: something that breeds destruction, violence, anger, and materialism. But it can just as well be used to heal. It is a vehicle for youth and young adults to articulate and reveal feelings and thoughts close to heart: powerlessness, lack of acknowledgement, loneliness, poverty, underdeveloped sense of self, lack of gratification, abuse, and so on.
Under FPA's guidance and supervision, this cathartic yet disciplined process can help adolescents and young adults ingrain mechanisms and behaviors that will bring them to better mental health.
